   Minutes for Clovis Post 3225 Veterans of Foreign Wars

Meeting held on the 3rd day of February, 2012 in Clovis, California.

Post called to order at 1903 hours by Commander Anderson.

Meeting was a Closed meeting. Member present, 29 Guests present, 0. 

Post Colors, Pledge of Allegiance and The Sovereign Prayer.

 

1. Commander-in-Chief Richard DeNoyer presented the Post with a flag streamer for 100% membership.

2. Roll Call of Officers (Present/Absent/Excused)

3. Reading of the minutes. Motion by Steve Westenrider, seconded by Gordon Pickett to accept the

    minutes [as read] [with corrections] by Adjutant Laughlin.

4. Quartermaster's Report. Motion by Judge Advocate Kimzey, seconded by Officer of the Day Nunes to

    accept the Quartermaster's Report. Carried and so ordered.

    - Ladies Auxiliary presented the Post with a check.

    - Motion for there to be a $1,000 budget for awards & decorations by Judge Advocate Kimzey, seconded

      by Trustee Flach. Passed and so ordered.

5. Service Officers Report. (Jim Boyajian)

    - There will be a Four Chaplain Ceremony at the Clovis Memorial Building on 2/4 at 1 PM.

    - Jr. Vice CDR Gritton updated the Post on this year's 4th Of July Fireworks Stand & welcomes

      suggestions/ideas to better this year's fundraiser. The stand will be set up on 6/28, sales begin on 6/29

      and tickets sales will start in late May.

    - Rob Ambrosini discussed the membership committee and needs approximately 15 volunteers for

      member contacting.

1943 Meeting called to order.

 

6. Old Business.

    - The Post sent 9 care packages to the 509th Infantry Airborne.

    - March 3rd will be a Flag Retirement Ceremony at the Loring property. (cooks arrive @ 6 AM &

      everyone else @ 7 AM) 

        - Bugler player still needed; contact Judge Advocate Kimzey.

    - Commander Anderson went over the basics of the Service Officers Training meeting which will be

      discussed further when more details are obtained.

    - The Post was represented by Commander Anderson at the 509th American Legion at the California

      Veterans Home meeting today.

7.New Business.

    - Motion to donate to the National Home by Officer of the Day Nunes, seconded by Surgeon

      VanDerhaden. Carried and so ordered.

    - Motion to purchase a canopy & table cover for events by Judge Advocate Kimzey, seconded by Steve

      Westenrider. Carried and so ordered.

    - Volunteers are still needed for set up and to work the booth at Big Hat Days.

    - Volunteers are needed to work on the float for the Rodeo Parade.

    - Trustee Flach will be handling the free giveaways for our booth at events.

    - Trustee Ertman has reserved the Post a large space for Big Hat Days.

    - Motion to participate in Clovis Advantage on 3/1 by Jr. Vice CDR Gritton, seconded by Gordon Pickett.


      Carried and so ordered.

8. Good of the Order.

    - Folding of a flag that will be buried with WWII Veteran Floyd Healey at Arlington Cemetery.

    - Jim Leadbetter volunteered his services for tax prep to all Post members.

    - The VA needs drivers for the DAV.

    - Volunteers needed for the No Vet Dies Alone program.

    - At the March Post meeting nominations for Officers positions.

 

2035 hours meeting was closed.

Closing ceremonies, meeting adjourned at 2035 hours. Next meeting will be held on 2nd Day of March 2012.
